Wegmans is one step closer to coming to the Lake Norman area.

A representative for Wegmans confirmed suggested that the company has entered into an agreement with Atrium Health to purchase a property in Cornelius.

The property is located at the southwest corner of Westmoreland Road and Statesville Road intersection, next to the Atrium Health Lake Norman complex.

Wegmans says it’s evaluating the site as a potential location for a future grocery store, along with other possible uses.

No final decisions have been made, but this is a significant step forward for a potential Wegmans in Cornelius.
