Dear Servants,
The first mission trip to Guatemala in 2026 will be February 20-28. There is great news and a great need for prayer below:
1. Greg, the missionary in Guatemala for the last 25+ years, is having some significant health issues. He needs your immediate prayers. He will be coming to the U.S. for further testing to determine the etiology of his condition. Above all else, please lift him up daily in prayer, as well as his family.
2. During these 25 years, Greg has done an outstanding job of training leaders within the Guatemalan community to lead when he can not. Therefore, we will have excellent care and transportation while we are in the country. Attached you will find travel guidelines, a packing list, and a sample itinerary, which will allow you to get a feel for our mission trip.
3. As I search the direct flight out of DFW for that date, current flights (round-trip) are under $500. We like DFW bc there are direct flights, which is much easier for group travel. However, there are people in California and other states receiving this email, so as long as you arrive in Guatemala City by 2:30 p.m. on February 20, 2026, we will meet up for transportation. If you need to arrive a day early, I have a great hotel near the airport for you to stay. 4 Star at reasonable prices!!! Except for any souvenirs you may want to bring back, those flight prices should allow you to go on this mission, including food and lodging, for around $1000.00. That is a very good price and one reason I am giving such extended notice. This will allow you to save up for this wonderful experience.
4. Three ways you can participate (hopefully at least 2 out of the 3!)
a. Pray - Whether you go or stay, everyone can pray (Poet??). Seriously, pray for our travel, mission work, wisdom, and effectiveness.
b. Go - There is something quite different about going to a country you are not accustomed to. There is greater dependence on your faith and appreciation for the quality of life most of us have. We now have quite nice living arrangements. With catered meals three times daily (total cost for lodging and meals approx. $35/day), it will still be an adventure as we travel to serve.
c. Contribute - On our last trip to Guatemala, various families had contributed soccer balls, stuffed animals, and other children's gifts and supplies, which filled 13 suitcases!!! Previously, American had charged $35 for the first bag, $45 for the second, and $50 for all additional bags. However, when we arrived at the airport, the first two bags were the same, but the additional bags for #3-13 were $100/bag! It was a little bit of a shock, but God provided, and all was well!!! I provide this information bc if you do not want to send toys, soccer balls, or medical supplies, you can always help pay for the bags we take. My Venmo account is Larry Montgomery@Larry-Montgomery-12. If you are a Chiropractor, we need portable adjusting tables to take with us. If yours is just sitting in a closet, please consider a donation! Regardless of how you contribute, I will provide typed receipts for the amounts contributed!
WHO CAN GO?
ALAS (Asociación La Libertad) (https://alas.org.gt/) has just signed a contract on land to build a completely new complex, with a school, nursing home & offices. Construction workers are in high demand! There is no skill or talent we can not utilize. Teachers, child care, nurses, physical therapists, doctors, chiropractors, dentists, ministry staff, athletes, secretaries, hair stylists; it doesn't matter, there is a place for. you!
So, if you have always wanted to go on a mission trip or wanted to return, I encourage you to step out and see what God has for you. The odds are you will receive much more than you will give.
Blessings and prayers for all
