DESOTO WARNING: COYOTE HUNT SET TO BEGIN‼️
〽️Desoto, Texas - If you live in DeSoto, don’t be alarmed if you hear gunshots in the early morning hours — it’s not crime this time… it’s coyotes.
Starting 2 A.M. Wednesday, the City of DeSoto is launching an official “coyote removal operation” after a string of pet attacks that’s left several small dogs dead since June.
The plan - USDA Wildlife Services marksmen will be out in vehicles, authorized to shoot coyotes in a 7-square-mile stretch between - E. Wintergreen Rd. & E. Belt Line Rd. (north & south) and I-35E & N. Westmoreland Rd. (east & west)
City officials say this is happening overnight to keep people safe and reduce panic — and they’ve already alerted residents in the target area.
No human attacks have been reported, but with five pet attacks in just a few months, officials say they’ve had enough.
Some residents support the move… others say it’s cruel and want a different approach. What do YOU think — is the city doing the right thing, or going too far?
