Trail Tuesday: Skyliners Trail 🌲 Located just 15 minutes from Discovery West, Skyliners Trail is a beautiful forested escape perfect for a crisp fall adventure!

This moderately challenging, 6.4-mile out-and-back trail features approximately 508 feet of elevation gain and is popular for both hiking and mountain biking. Wind through towering trees, enjoy the peaceful surroundings and take advantage of the cooler weather before winter snow arrives. 🥾

This Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we’re honored to recognize Warm Springs artist Lillian Pitt and The Legend of Coyote and Crow, a striking public art installation in Discovery West created with support from Ben Dye and Juno Lachman.

The piece brings a Native American legend to life through a 14-foot steel tree filled with crows and Coyote perched upon an adorned basalt stone, bright yellow flowers replacing the eyes Crow mischievously carried away. Through art and storytelling, the installation reflects the enduring connection between culture, nature and place.

We invite you to visit this meaningful work, learn the story behind it and celebrate the Indigenous artists and traditions that continue to enrich Central Oregon.

Meet Erica, one of the wonderful faces behind Harcourts The Garner Group Real Estate! 🏡✨

Real estate has been part of Erica’s life since her mom entered the industry when Erica was 10. Her husband later joined the field, and Erica began working in the office before earning her license. Today, she co-owns Harcourts The Garner Group with her sister, Shelley, and cousin, Sara.

One of the most meaningful parts of real estate for Erica is watching an agent help a first-time buyer purchase a home and begin building security, wealth and a place of their own.

Erica has also loved seeing Discovery West grow into a thriving community. Favorite memories include celebrating America’s 250th birthday at Stars & Stripes and watching the Art Walk become part of Food Cart Friday!

When she isn’t supporting the Harcourts team or giving back through nonprofits and charitable work, Erica’s perfect Bend day is spent at home in the sunshine with her husband, dogs and chickens!

You’ve seen Central Oregon Locavore taking shape in the Plaza. Now, there’s one final hurdle to getting the doors open: $100,000.

Locavore came incredibly close to meeting its original $200,000 fundraising goal, and that support allowed construction to move forward. But as the build-out progressed, rising construction costs and the realities of converting the space into a year-round food marketplace created an additional funding gap.

The space is here. Construction is happening. And Locavore hopes to open before Thanksgiving. But they need our community’s help to finish it.

The new marketplace will give Discovery West and westside residents a convenient place to shop fresh produce, meat, dairy, and other products from local farmers, ranchers, and makers while creating another reliable year-round sales outlet for Central Oregon producers.

If you’re excited to have Locavore in our neighborhood, now is the time to help get the doors open. Donations of any size will help close the $100,000 gap and complete the Discovery West marketplace.
