Opening windows and pointing fans at wet areas makes sense on the surface. Airflow dries things, right?
Not quite.

Fans move air across surfaces. They don't pull moisture out of the materials underneath.

Carpet padding holds water like a sponge. Drywall absorbs and keeps it. Subfloor plywood swells. None of that gets resolved with a box fan running for a few days.

Professional drying uses commercial dehumidifiers, air movers positioned to pull moisture from inside wall cavities, and moisture meters confirming materials are actually dry - not just the surface.

Quick question for Central Oregon homeowners - do you know where your main water shut-off valve is?

Not the one under the sink. The one that stops all water to the whole house.

When a pipe goes at 2 AM, that valve is the difference between a manageable cleanup and a disaster. Drop "yes" or "no" below.

Bend asbestos removal is something a lot of homeowners don't think about until they're already mid-project.

If your home was built before the mid-1980s, there's a real chance asbestos is hiding somewhere - insulation, floor tiles, textured ceilings, you name it. Disturbing it without proper testing and removal can create a serious health risk for your family.

At Central Oregon Disaster Restoration, we've got 30+ years of Oregon-specific asbestos experience and the licensing to back it up. We handle testing, inspection, and full removal so you know exactly what you're dealing with before any work begins.

No guessing. No cutting corners. Just honest answers and the right process from start to finish.

"It dried out on its own" is something we hear right before we pull back drywall and find mold on the studs behind it.

What actually happened in those homes: water got into the wall cavity, soaked the insulation, and the surface dried while the inside stayed wet for weeks. Everything looked fine. Until it didn't.

At Central Oregon Disaster Restoration, we use moisture meters and thermal imaging to measure what you can't see.

Surface dry and actually dry are two completely different things - and the gap between them is where mold starts. πŸ’§

If water touched your walls, floors, or ceilings, get it properly checked.

Spring remodel planned? Get your home tested for asbestos before demo starts.

Pre-1980s homes in Central Oregon - floor tiles, popcorn ceilings, pipe insulation - commonly contain asbestos. No problem until someone sands or scrapes it. Then it's a health risk.

At Central Oregon Disaster Restoration, we test and remove it safely. 30+ years of Oregon-specific experience.

Bend storm damage restoration after flooding is something our team deals with more than people might expect.

Central Oregon doesn't see widespread flooding, but when a storm hits hard, localized flooding can push water into homes fast - and the longer it sits, the worse the damage gets.

At Central Oregon Disaster Restoration, we're on call around the clock. Our crew handles water extraction, drying, and structural moisture management all in-house, so nothing gets missed and there's no waiting on outside contractors to show up.

If a storm has pushed water into your home, don't wait it out. We'll be there within 60 minutes.
