I forgot how much I missed my old college town — the Spanish-style architecture, cactuses lining the streets, and the Mission at the heart of downtown.

Start with tacos and margaritas at Luna Red, right by the Mission. Walk over to Boo Boo Records and the gum wall for some classic SLO charm. Stop for fresh beers at Firestone Walker, then head to La Ventana Grill in Pismo for dinner with ocean views. End the night with dessert at the Madonna Inn, and finish your trip in Morro Bay, watching the fog roll over the rock.
