Serious mortgage delinquencies, loans 90+ days past due, rose 18.6% in December from a year earlier, reaching 0.2% of mortgages, according to VantageScore. That’s growing faster than late payments on credit cards, auto loans, or personal loans.

Overall, 1.78% of mortgages were delinquent as of Q3 2025, which could equal roughly 1.5 million loans based on national totals.

“I’ve had several people contact me because they’re falling behind,” says Florida agent Ron Myers. “Some sellers just want out before things get worse.”
