🇺🇸 NEVER FORGET 🇺🇸
Twenty-five years ago today, our nation experienced one of the darkest days in its history. On September 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 innocent people were killed in a coordinated act of terrorism against the United States.
8:46 a.m. — American Airlines Flight 11 struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center
9:03 a.m. — United Airlines Flight 175 struck the South Tower of the World Trade Center
9:37 a.m. — American Airlines Flight 77 struck the Pentagon
9:59 a.m. — The South Tower collapsed.
10:03 a.m. — United Airlines Flight 93 crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after passengers and crew courageously fought back against the hijackers.
10:28 a.m. — The North Tower collapsed.
Among those killed were 343 FDNY members, 23 NYPD officers, 37 Port Authority Police officers, eight private EMS personnel, and a member of the New York Fire Patrol. We also remember the many rescue and recovery workers who later lost their lives or continue to suffer from illnesses connected to their service at Ground Zero.
Today, we honor every innocent person who was taken, the families whose lives were forever changed, the survivors, and the first responders who ran toward danger while others were trying to escape.
We also recognize and support the members of the United States Armed Forces who answered the call following the attacks. We remain grateful for their service, their sacrifice, and the sacrifices made by their families.
May the American flag flying above our community today serve as a reminder of the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the strength and unity our nation showed in the days that followed.
We will remember them.
We will honor their sacrifice.
We will never forget.
