The Walton family has selected internationally renowned architecture firm Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) to design a new 422,000-square-foot STEM-focused university campus on the former Walmart Home Office site in Bentonville. The initial phase will feature three buildings: an academic building, a makerspace, and a 400-bed student residence hall.

The makerspace will serve as the campus innovation hub with workshops, labs, and collaborative spaces. The academic building will house classrooms, laboratories, offices, and study areas, while the residence hall will include dining facilities and shared amenities. The campus is designed to blend with the surrounding community and connect downtown Bentonville with nearby parks and green spaces.

Backed by members of the Walton family, the STEM university will focus on preparing students for careers in fields such as automation, logistics, biotechnology, computing, and artificial intelligence. Organizers plan to welcome the first class in 2029, with tuition fully covered during the university's initial years.

A major new attraction for mountain bikers is set to open this week as officially welcomes riders during Bentonville Bike Fest.

The park is Arkansas’ first chairlift-served mountain biking destination, featuring more than 20 miles of trails for a variety of skill levels, along with a high-speed lift, bike rentals, food and beverage options, and rider amenities.

Opening day festivities begin Friday at 10 AM with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The celebration will continue throughout the day with guided rides, live entertainment, and special biking events for attendees.
