You're looking at one of the oldest fish species in the Great Lakes.

Once pushed to the brink, lake sturgeon are making a comeback in Michigan waters thanks to years of conservation and restoration efforts. Today, an estimated 30,000 adult sturgeon live in the St. Clair-Detroit River system.

Growing up to 9 feet long and weighing as much as 300 pounds, these ancient fish are more than just unique—they’re also an important indicator of healthy rivers and lakes.

🌊 WE’RE HITTING THE ROAD FOR THE GREAT LAKES.

This June, Great Lakes Great Responsibility is traveling across all 5 Great Lakes to clean shorelines, connect communities, and spark a bigger conversation about plastic pollution in our waters.

From Ontario to the Upper Peninsula, we’re bringing together volunteers, local organizations, businesses, and media to show what’s possible when people take action together.

In just one week, we’ll host community cleanups, collect data on marine debris, and highlight the growing plastic crisis impacting the Great Lakes, the source of drinking water for over 40 million people.
