Labor Day weekend has arrived, bringing a few more days to enjoy the last stretch of summer.

The weather looks pretty cooperative, too. Upstate, Friday will be warm with a mix of sun and clouds and a chance of a stray shower, followed by a cooler, cloudy Saturday and a pleasant Sunday. Downstate, Friday reaches the upper 80s before temperatures settle into the 70s for the rest of the weekend. Saturday should clear as the day goes on, and Sunday morning showers are expected to give way to some afternoon sunshine.

If you're looking for plans upstate, Friday night offers two very different options: the Festival of Fountains at Longwood Gardens or a 60th anniversary screening of *Star Trek: The Motion Picture* at The Everett Theatre. On Saturday, the Arden Fair and Antiques Market returns for a day that has become a Labor Day weekend tradition for generations of Delawareans.

At the beach, Saturday night is all about the music, with *Pet Sounds Live*, a tribute to the Beach Boys, at the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand and *Beatlemania Now!* at Milton Theatre. On Sunday, head just across the state line for the OC Cruzers Classic Car Show in Ocean City or spend the morning browsing The Berlin Farmers Market.

Of course, Labor Day weekend in Delaware doesn't really require an event. It's one more chance for a long beach day, a backyard cookout, dinner outside, a walk along the water, or an afternoon with nowhere in particular to be.

It's also one of those weekends when you notice the rhythms of a place. What does a Saturday morning feel like here? Where do people gather? How close are the places you'd actually spend your time? If you're exploring a new community or stopping by an open house this weekend, give yourself some time to look beyond the house itself.

Summer isn't quite over yet. We hope you enjoy every bit of the long weekend.

How are you spending Labor Day weekend?

The last weekend of August is giving us plenty of reasons to get out and enjoy it.

Upstate, temperatures stay in the low to mid-80s, with partly cloudy skies Friday and Saturday and plenty of sunshine on Sunday. In Wilmington, the August Quarterly Festival continues a tradition with deep roots in the city. There's also Art on the Town hosted by New Castle Historical Society, the Delaware Burger Battle, and, just over the state line, the Crush the Chesapeake 5K in Chesapeake City.

Downstate, Friday afternoon may bring some thunderstorms, but Saturday and Sunday look much better for getting outside. WHYY is hosting a Neighborhood Block Party in Lewes, Ocean City has both Ocean City Jeep Fest and the Ocean City Seafood Festival, and the Freeman Arts Pavilion has a big music weekend with Lady A on Saturday and Collective Soul on Sunday.

It's the kind of late-summer weekend that can go in a lot of directions. Head to an event, spend the day at the beach, find a table outside for dinner, or take the long way home and see where you end up.

And while you're out, pay attention to the places along the way. A main street you've never walked, a neighborhood you've only driven past, or an open house that catches your eye can give you a completely different feel for a community.

There's still plenty of summer left to enjoy. What are you making time for this weekend?

We had the perfect beach day yesterday! And no jellies 🪼!! This is when beach season is best being a local! Smaller crowds with kids slowly going back to school, warmer water temps and less traffic to get to the beach!
