Labor Day weekend has arrived, bringing a few more days to enjoy the last stretch of summer.
The weather looks pretty cooperative, too. Upstate, Friday will be warm with a mix of sun and clouds and a chance of a stray shower, followed by a cooler, cloudy Saturday and a pleasant Sunday. Downstate, Friday reaches the upper 80s before temperatures settle into the 70s for the rest of the weekend. Saturday should clear as the day goes on, and Sunday morning showers are expected to give way to some afternoon sunshine.
If you're looking for plans upstate, Friday night offers two very different options: the Festival of Fountains at Longwood Gardens or a 60th anniversary screening of *Star Trek: The Motion Picture* at The Everett Theatre. On Saturday, the Arden Fair and Antiques Market returns for a day that has become a Labor Day weekend tradition for generations of Delawareans.
At the beach, Saturday night is all about the music, with *Pet Sounds Live*, a tribute to the Beach Boys, at the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand and *Beatlemania Now!* at Milton Theatre. On Sunday, head just across the state line for the OC Cruzers Classic Car Show in Ocean City or spend the morning browsing The Berlin Farmers Market.
Of course, Labor Day weekend in Delaware doesn't really require an event. It's one more chance for a long beach day, a backyard cookout, dinner outside, a walk along the water, or an afternoon with nowhere in particular to be.
It's also one of those weekends when you notice the rhythms of a place. What does a Saturday morning feel like here? Where do people gather? How close are the places you'd actually spend your time? If you're exploring a new community or stopping by an open house this weekend, give yourself some time to look beyond the house itself.
Summer isn't quite over yet. We hope you enjoy every bit of the long weekend.
How are you spending Labor Day weekend?
