Today I made friends with a Wren. She is a tiny brown bird who laid 4 speckled eggs in her nest midway up the evergreen in a planter on my patio.
When I discovered the nest and checked on it frequently, the mother Wren was worried and flew away. I always scattered some treats nearby. But today she seemed to welcome me chirping and staying nearby. Her 4 babies are growing each hour. Not surprising as their huge mouths are always ready for the next meal. I love having them here and already feel sad at the thought of empty nest syndrome.

I feed the mothers seeds and berries. Maybe they tell their friends that this is a good bed and breakfast spot. I love having them here.
Can someone tell me which species lays these eggs. I don’t think it’s a Robin.

This gigantic lily plant started life last year as a tiny pot plant. At the end of the season I almost discarded it but then put the pot outside. This was the reward.
