According to NAR’s August 2026 housing report:

🏡 Housing inventory has reached its highest level since 2019, with 1.62 𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 on the market — up 5.9% from this time last year.

📈 We now have a 4.9-month supply of homes — the 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 10 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬.

📈 Fewer homes are going under contract, with pending home sales down 4.7% compared to this time last year.

This one is staggering! - Redfin estimates that 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐮𝐲𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐛𝐲 57.9%.
