I always tell my team that you know you’re doing what you’re supposed to be doing when it doesn’t even feel like work.

Most days, I simply move from one surprise to the next, focusing on what I can control and declining invitations into negativity. That’s how I keep the joy in what I do.

If your chaotic energy or exhaustion is the first thing people notice when you walk into a room, it may be time to reconsider how you’re operating. Being overwhelmed isn’t a status symbol.

Some people order the same donut every time. Plain glazed, predictable, no surprises. And that's okay.

I’ve always preferred the mixed box.

Growing up in Harlingen, TX, we had Mr. Donut. You didn’t always get to choose; you just opened the box and went with it. That’s exactly how real estate feels to me.

Every day is a new assortment. Different agents, different clients, different personalities. The steady glazed, the high-energy sprinkles, the layered jelly-filled, an unexpected jalapeno cheese kolache - anyone can end up being your favorite.

There isn’t one “better” donut.

The skill is appreciating what shows up, even if it’s not what you would have picked, and finding the value in it. Life hack: Stop demanding what you THINK life is supposed to be offering you; rather, make a treat of whatever is being offered.

That’s the work. That’s the fun.

Too many agents are so eager to get a listing live or into escrow that they push sellers before the home is truly ready. The reality is that proper preparation and presentation can have a significant impact on your final sales price and the equity you walk away with.
