For nearly a decade, a wild bald eagle named Jackie taught millions of us how to love, how to endure, and how to face life's fiercest storms with grace! Through the Friends of Big Bear Valley Cam, she wasn’t just a bird on a screen—she became part of our daily routines and our hearts. She laid 25 eggs, hatched 10 chicks, and successfully raised 7 beautiful eaglets to fledge. Today, we celebrate the remarkable timeline of the family she built high up in the pines. 👆

🥚 2012 | A Historic Hatch: Long before she was the queen of the nest, Jackie made history as the very first documented bald eagle chick to hatch in Big Bear Valley. 🦅
2018 | The First Generation: Partnered with Mr. B, Jackie welcomed Stormy, who became a global internet sensation before successfully fledging. Tragically, his sibling BBB was lost to a severe freezing rainstorm. 💞
2019 | The Shadow Era Begins: Jackie and her devoted mate Shadow raised Simba, a strong chick who successfully took to the skies in July. Heartbreakingly, Cookie was lost during an unseasonably harsh freeze. ✨
2022 | A Solo Miracle: After a few quiet seasons, the lone chick Spirit hatched in March and fledged in May, captivating the entire world with a beautiful, independent journey. ☀️
2025 | Joy in the Nest: The nest was filled with life as Sunny and Gizmo grew side-by-side, bringing pure magic to the we**am before fledging together in June. Their sibling, Misty, sadly passed during a spring storm. 🌊
2026 | The Beautiful Final Clutch: Hatched over Easter weekend, Sandy and Luna—named by local third graders—grew into magnificent juveniles and successfully fledged together in late June. Jackie left a legacy as fierce as the freedom she represented. She didn't just raise eagles; she brought strangers together from every corner of the earth to appreciate the fragile beauty of nature. Fly high and free, sweet girl. We will keep looking up.
