These photos were taken a few years back when I was just starting to learn photography from YouTube.

I was walking my dog, Hairy, and practicing shooting with my new camera on a trail to the beach near my house. I saw this family having so much fun with their kids, just chasing and laughing and having the best time of their lives. So I took out my camera and started taking some pictures of them.

Looking back at these pictures reminds me of how happy people are when they are exploring, traveling, or with their family and friends.

As a host and property owner myself, this definitely gives me a reflection of what we are doing is important because our houses are also part of their beautiful memories.

I can still remember my first trip to Big Bear City. Those huge pine cones and towering trees left me speechless. That’s when I knew ‘Big Pine’ was the perfect name for my business. I didn’t forget to bring one home for hairy as well but somehow it ended up in my other Airbnb in Seattle.🌲💫

When I first purchased the condo back in 2016, the thought of using it as STR never crossed my mind. I was working at Amazon at the time and would often sit by the window, gazing out at the building next door. It was standing tall next to the bus stop where I caught my ride home every day.

Initially, I rented out the apartment as a long-term rental, but when my tenant left during the Covid pandemic, I saw an opportunity. Over the course of three months, we dedicated ourselves to renovating the space. It was during this process that the idea of turning it into a short-term rental through Airbnb began to take shape. It was a decision that would not only prove to be financially rewarding but also unexpectedly fulfilling as we welcomed guests from all corners of the globe into our home. It just goes to show that sometimes the best opportunities come when we least expect them :)
