📢 Important Update for Montanans whose Primary Home is in an LLC or Trust – This applies to many Farmers, Ranchers, and Seniors.

I reached out to the Montana Department of Revenue on your behalf, and I want to share what I learned.
If you live 7+ months per year in a home that is held in a trust or LLC, your residence is qualifies as a long-term rental (LTR) – essentially a rental to yourself. Long-term renters - make sure your landlord knows!
âś… Just fill out the form as best you can. The Department of Revenue confirmed that as long as you complete the form, it will be accepted.
✅ Estimate your rental income and expenses in good faith. You don't need exact numbers – a reasonable, honest estimate is all that's required.
âś… Don't let the March 1st deadline stop you. Fill out the form even if you have unanswered questions. Acting in good faith is what matters.
