📢 Important Update for Montanans whose Primary Home is in an LLC or Trust – This applies to many Farmers, Ranchers, and Seniors.

Please help get the word out and share this post.

I reached out to the Montana Department of Revenue on your behalf, and I want to share what I learned.

If you live 7+ months per year in a home that is held in a trust or LLC, your residence is qualifies as a long-term rental (LTR) – essentially a rental to yourself. Long-term renters - make sure your landlord knows!

✅ Just fill out the form as best you can. The Department of Revenue confirmed that as long as you complete the form, it will be accepted.

✅ Estimate your rental income and expenses in good faith. You don't need exact numbers – a reasonable, honest estimate is all that's required.

✅ Don't let the March 1st deadline stop you. Fill out the form even if you have unanswered questions. Acting in good faith is what matters.
