The most misunderstood city in Montana? It’s Billings and I have receipts. 👇
Here are 5 things about Billings that prove there’s way more here than meets the eye:
🏔️ Unreal outdoor access—Swords Park, the Rimrocks, Riverfront Park on the Yellowstone… plus you’re an easy drive to some of the best hiking, fishing, and skiing in the state. (Yes, you can do “real Montana” without living two hours from a grocery store.)
🏡 More house for your money—Billings is still one of the more affordable options in Montana, and you get the amenities of the largest city in the region. (Target and a mortgage that doesn’t make you cry. Iconic.)
🏟️ Billings is becoming the sports hub of the region—Mustangs baseball at Dehler Park, rodeos and major events at MetraPark, the new Cattle Punchers hockey team, upgrades underway for Daylis Stadium, and the massive investment happening at Amend Park with new ice arenas and indoor court facilities. From baseball and hockey to basketball, volleyball, soccer, wrestling, and rodeo, Billings is quickly becoming the sports capital of Montana—and arguably the entire region. Honestly, it’s about time.
🍻 The food + brewery scene is better than it gets credit for—steakhouses, cozy coffee spots, local breweries, and a surprising number of “how is this place not more famous?” hidden gems. I’ll happily share favs!
🎶 There’s something happening basically every weekend—MetraPark events, live music, downtown happenings, seasonal festivals, and enough to do that your calendar can stay full without a 3-hour drive.

And yes—this will probably get a little “Billings hate” in the comments because that’s the internet’s favorite hobby. But honestly… most people just don’t know where to go. Which is exactly why it’s so misunderstood. 😉
