⚠️ ELECTRICAL SAFETY WARNING ⚠️

The old GFCI outlet we removed had been overheating internally. Most of the damage was hidden inside the receptacle—exactly where a homeowner wouldn’t normally see it.

A loose connection or worn internal contact can create resistance, produce heat, and eventually become a serious fire hazard. The outlet may even continue working while this is happening.

Watch for these warning signs:

🔥 An outlet or cover plate that feels warm
🔥 Brown or black discoloration
🔥 A burning-plastic smell
🔥 Buzzing or crackling sounds
🔥 Plugs that fit loosely
🔥 Breakers or GFCIs that trip repeatedly

GFCIs should be tested using the TEST and RESET buttons every month. If an outlet feels warm, smells burned, shows discoloration, or fails its test, stop using it and have it inspected immediately.

A basic GFCI inspection normally takes about 30–60 minutes. A receptacle safety check throughout an average home may take 1–3 hours, depending on the size of the home and what we find.

From trashed to transformed—and earning income again! 🛠️🏠

The previous tenant left this rental property in terrible condition, but the VPS team came in ready to tackle the challenge. After a massive cleanout, repairs, fresh paint, new flooring and plenty of hard work, we made this house feel like a home again.

Today, the property is clean, refreshed, happily rented and producing income for its owner once again. That’s what we call a successful turnaround!

Sorry we haven’t posted in a while—we’ve been crazy busy helping our clients!

Here’s a look at one of our recent projects. We installed a new exterior door and corrected a dryer vent that the original builder had dumping into a box inside the garage. We extended it with proper rigid ductwork and routed it completely outside, where the heat, moisture, and lint belong.

Sometimes business is about more than business.

While servicing another property we manage in Jasper, one of our Viking lawn technicians noticed a neighboring yard that hadn’t been mowed in months. It was clear a family lived there, and it looked like children called it home too.

He called the Head Viking and simply said, “I think we need to take care of this one.”

There wasn’t a second thought. The answer was yes.

No invoice. No questions. Just neighbors helping neighbors.

As the work was being finished, we noticed a vehicle displaying a veteran designation. It was one of those quiet moments that reminds you you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.

This post isn’t about us asking for recognition.

It’s about saying thank you.

Sometimes selling a home comes with a few unexpected surprises.

Just before an open house, a nervous fur baby decided the freshly listed home’s baseboards looked like the perfect chew toy. 😅 The homeowner did what most of us would do and tried to make a quick repair, but quickly realized this one needed a professional touch.

That’s when the Vikings answered the call.

Our crew jumped into action, removed the damaged sections, installed brand-new baseboards, caulked, painted, and had everything looking like it never happened. The open house stayed on schedule, the home showed beautifully, and what could have been a stressful last-minute setback became just another job well done.

When a local Jasper Realtor reached out with a punch list of repairs that needed to be handled before closing, the Vikings sprang into action. ⚒️

With the full home inspection report in hand, we went to work knocking out the needed repairs — and while we were there, we found a few more issues that needed attention and handled those too.

Then the power went out in the middle of the day.

No problem.

The Vikes rolled out the generator, kept working, and got the job done. 💪

The Viking Property Services team sailed in with a simple solution that made a BIG difference. ⚔️

This homeowner had a problem: large dog + lots of rain = muddy stairs.

And let’s be honest… the pupper does not always remember to wipe his feet. 🤣

A custom stair rug was priced way too high, and honestly, it still would have been hard to clean. Hardwood stairs were not in the budget right now either.

So what did the Vikings do?

We thought outside the box.

We ordered washable runner rugs and installed custom rug clamps so when the pupper has a memory lapse, the rugs can be unhooked in minutes and thrown straight into the washing machine.

Clean. Practical. Affordable. Problem solved.

Not every problem requires a four-digit solution. Sometimes the best answer is the one that actually fits the homeowner’s life, budget, and needs.
