Say hello to Team Maree & Caitlin! 🌟

Meet Maree Jones!💜

Maree Jones is a communications and social media strategist with more than 16 years of experience helping organizations build stronger brands and meaningful communities. A nationally sought-after speaker, trainer, and published industry voice, she has shared her expertise on stages, publications, and podcasts across the country, covering social media strategy, digital communications, personal branding, and the ever-changing relationship between people and technology.

A Birmingham native and the Director of Social Media Strategy at UAB, Maree is deeply invested in her hometown and has volunteered her time and communications expertise with nonprofits throughout the metro area. She is a wife, mom, theatre lover, local news fangirl, and enthusiastic champion of the Magic City.

Now, after a couple of decades away from choreography, she’s trading national speaking stages for the dance floor to support First Light, hoping to raise a lot of money, have an unreasonable amount of fun, and prove that muscle memory is, in fact, real! 💃

Meet Caitlin Stone! 💜

Caitlin Stone is a seasoned barre instructor with 14 years of experience, teaching at a variety of studios and fitness centers across Birmingham, including Grand Jeté, Mountain Brook Country Club, Samford University, the YMCA, and pilates studios.

A Birmingham native, Caitlin has a strong foundation in dance, having trained at The Dance Foundation, Alabama Dance Academy, Alabama Dance Theatre, and the Alabama Ballet School. Her roots in classical and contemporary ballet inform her dynamic, alignment-focused approach to fitness.

In addition to her work in the dance and fitness community, Caitlin is a Speech-Language Pathologist at UAB and proud mother to a spirited eight-year-old daughter.

✨ The wait is over! It’s officially time to meet our 2026 Dancing with the Stars of the Magic City teams! 💃

🌟 First up, meet Team Dotty & Katherine!

💫 Meet Dotty Still!

For more than 33 years, Dotty Still has been solving problems most people never knew existed as Executive Director of the Alabama Life and Disability Insurance Guaranty Association.

Away from the office, she’s far more interested in exploring nature, traveling America’s blue highways, and convincing her grandchildren that every road trip should include at least one unexpected adventure.

Dotty is the proud mother of three married children and grandmother of five.

❤️ Why She’s Dancing for First Light:

Dotty believes every woman deserves safety, hope, and the chance to begin again. She’s looking forward to proving that curiosity can lead you almost anywhere, including a stage she never imagined standing on, in support of First Light and the women it serves.

🌟 Meet Katherine Thompson!

Katherine Thompson is a native of Mobile and graduated Summa Cum Laude from The University of Alabama at Birmingham with a degree in Communication Management.

She is currently the Communications & Donor Relations Manager at the Junior League of Birmingham, an organization dedicated to the development of women leaders who make a significant community impact here in the Magic City.

🩰 A former professional ballet dancer, Katherine danced with Cincinnati Ballet and Alabama Ballet and has also performed with New Orleans Ballet Theater and Neglia Ballet in Buffalo, New York.

After dancing in Cincinnati, she moved to New York City and entered the hospitality industry, working for Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Chef Daniel Boulud, as well as at the Ritz-Carlton Battery Park.

❤️ Katherine’s greatest role is being the mother of her two boys, William and Matthew.

We are incredibly grateful for our friends at Southminster Presbyterian Church - USA!

After spending the past year taking a deeper look at homelessness and thoughtfully considering where they could make the greatest impact, Southminster made an extraordinarily generous gift to help provide beds for First Light guests as they transition out of shelter and into their own homes.

And their generosity does not stop with the gift. They have also offered to be part of the process by providing hands on assistance to help get these beds into the homes of those who need them most.

A bed may seem simple, but for someone starting over, having a comfortable place to sleep in a new home means so much. Because of Southminster’s generosity, we will be able to provide that comfort to so many who need it most.

Thank you, Southminster Presbyterian Church, for taking the time to learn, listen, and then respond in such a BIG way. We are beyond grateful for your incredible generosity and your heart for our neighbors!
