That’s in Buenos Aires. Very well kept house. The construction in Southamerica is like Europe, brick walls in the interior and the exterior. Many other materials used for the architectural details, woods for the built-ins. Iron for windows, gates, fences, rails, etc. Marble for floors, counters and ceramic tiles with designs. Amazing Fireplaces mantles of all kind of materials. Very friendly paint, in the beginning was primarily white, à la cal, then you had special plaster covers, fabric covered walls, with velvet and brocade. Windows haves real, usable wooden shutters then a glass window and sometimes in the interior a finished wood doors. The finishes on wooden doors are amazing. Pieces of art!!
When you visit the Missions ruins in Paraguay, you can appreciate the level of mastery in crafting, masonry in these buildings and churches with local materials, taught by the Jesuits to the natives, in Paraguay, the guaraníes.
I can not even imagine. How would the level of Architecture/construction would be today there if the Jesuits would not haven been expulse. Or without the Triple alliance war, that burned and destroyed everything there in the 1800’s. 35 yrs of dictatorship all left their imprint. There is a renaissance in Paraguay and I believe BsAs could inspire Asuncion to work hard in the old historic downtown of the mother of cities. As once Paraguayans saved BsAs.
