Some land surveyor drama in another state. Alabama does have Right-of-Entry, apparently Indiana doesn't? Make sure you use reasonable effort to notify landowners you will be entering their property. The ASPLS doorknob hangtags seem to be the most efficient was to do that.

Has the practice of land surveying drifted more towards the legal profession and away from the engineering profession? Seems my practice involves way more land title lawyers than engineers/architects recently. Anyone seeing this, or it is just us in the boundary surveying world?

The Legislature ended its session yesterday, without any bills that directly affect land surveyors.
One bill, SB442, which passed out of both chambers, and is headed to the Governors office for likely signature, will make vacation of abandoned public roads easier for counties and municipalities. Make sure you add information on your survey plats of any unimproved roads, by deed or plat, because landowners can now more easily "claw back" that land at a later time.
Also, we're setting the Terminus of the Huntsville Meridian on Saturday at noon in Shelby, AL. If you ever wanted a chance to survey with Milton Denny, this is it. Meet at the Old Shelby Iron Works park and we will head to the corner site. See you there!
