J.L. Hudson's was a iconic department store in Detroit, Michigan. Here's a brief history:

# Early Years
J.L. Hudson's was founded in 1881 by Joseph L. Hudson. It started as a small men's clothing store and gradually expanded to become a full-fledged department store.

# Growth and Expansion
By the 1920s, Hudson's had grown to become one of the largest department stores in the United States. It occupied an entire city block in downtown Detroit and boasted over 2 million square feet of retail space.

# Innovations
Hudson's was known for its innovative marketing and customer service strategies. It introduced the concept of "budget shopping" and offered a wide range of products at affordable prices.

# Iconic Features
The store's iconic features included:

- A massive 51-foot-tall Christmas tree that was displayed in the store's atrium during the holiday season
- A renowned restaurant, the "Hudson's Maurice Salad" was a famous dish
