Schedule:
- Monday - Thursday: 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm
- Friday: 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
- 19 weekly hours
- The candidate must reside within 20 miles of the Selma, AL city limits.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Develops and manages all work schedules for multiple job locations including substitute staff coverage
- Instructs and trains building leads and custodial workers on the proper use of equipment, materials, and chemicals
- Ensures a clean and safe work environment through inspection and training of staff
- Develops and implements custodial cleaning procedures, routines, and training, as necessary
- Acts as the liaison between the customer and Performance Property Servicing, Inc by developing and maintaining an effective customer relationship
- Assists in hiring, promoting, disciplining, and the termination of staff according to the needs of the contract
- Interviews for custodial personnel and schedules interviews of applicants
- Assists with administrative tasks involving custodial personnel and facilities
- Manages quality assurance by addressing and rectifying any issues/complaints that arise in a timely manner
- Coordinates, assigns, and inspects the work of custodial staff, including regular review and revisions of custodial task assignment sheets
- Coordinates all floor care, special projects, and event activity involving custodial staff
- Responsible for effectively handling the day-to-day operations and ensuring procedures are followed
- Facilitates weekly custodial meetings, including drafting agendas
- Coordinates and arranges for equipment repairs, as necessary
- Supervises inventory of custodial supply products and authorizes purchases of monthly custodial supplies
- Provides the Regional Manager with annual list of custodial equipment needs
- Performs duties of the custodians, in their absence
- Responds to emergency calls at all facilities
- Follows all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures by promoting safety in all actions
- Maintains confidentiality of all personnel and facility information
- Performs job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience in the commercial janitorial market
- Must have knowledge of all areas of building maintenance, including stripping & waxing of floors and operating & maintaining janitorial equipment
- Computer Skills: Ability to proficiently use the following programs: MS Word, Excel, and email internet applications.
- Interpersonal Skills: Works well with others from diverse backgrounds. Must have ability to understand and follow oral and written directions. Able to establish and maintain effective relationships with those encountered in the course of the work.
- Language Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing in English. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from Regional Manager or staff. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions and percentages.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to learn and apply new information or new skills.
- Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to appropriately communicate with diverse staff and others including vendors and other agencies. Ability to exercise good judgment and work in an environment with frequent interruptions and deadlines. Ability to juggle multiple tasks and possess excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
Background Check & Drug Screening:
- Must be willing to have a detailed background check with no prior convictions
- Must be willing to undergo periodic random drug testing
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record for the last three (3) years
Working Conditions (physical & mental requirements):
- Must be able to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation
- Occasionally perform tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of time
- Reach, bend, kneel and have high level of manual dexterity
- Occasionally be required to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
- Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
- Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas
