Leaf-peeping season has arrived. 🍂

The New River Valley is home to some gorgeous fall color this time of year. Cascade Falls, Pandapas Pond and the Huckleberry Trail are all easy drives (or even walks) from the community, and all worth a fall afternoon.

It's Homecoming week in Blacksburg! 🧡🖤

Campus has been buzzing all week leading up to the big weekend. The Homecoming Parade marches through downtown Friday night, and the Hokies close it out hosting Georgia Tech at Lane Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 17.

If you're headed downtown for the parade or to the game Saturday, plan ahead. This is one of the busiest weekends of the fall.

🚨 Test your smoke detector, a quick press of the button tells you if it's working
🧯 Know where your fire extinguisher is (check with the office if you're not sure)
🔌 Don't overload outlets or extension cords
🕯️ Never leave candles burning unattended

A few minutes now can make a big difference. Reach out to the office anytime if you need a smoke detector checked or batteries replaced!

The Hokies open October at home against Pitt this Friday, Oct. 2, at Lane Stadium. It's a weeknight kickoff, so plan for extra traffic on your way home and give yourself a little extra time if you're headed to the game.

From local pumpkin patches and apple orchards to scenic hikes with the leaves in full color, there's no shortage of ways to soak up the season just minutes from home. Add in cozy coffee shops downtown and a Saturday farmers market run, and it's easy to see why autumn is one of our favorite times of year here.
