Ready for Wednesday Fun?
Here's the rundown of 10 local New River Valley events and 1 Thursday event that has a Noon deadline today to participate....
Do you like Scrabble? Join the 18th Annual Scrabble Tournament for Literacy on Thursday evening from 5:30-8:30PM at the Omni Place Event Center courtesy of Literacy NRV. All participants in this fundraiser to help local literacy can enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will also be available. Teams of 3 will compete in either the Competitive or "Just for Fun" brackets. And, if you don't have a team of three, you will be placed on a team. The cost is $45 per person or $120 per team. The registration deadline is Wednesday at Noon.

Wednesday Rundown of Fun:
1. Annual Giovanni-Steger Poetry Prize:
The Virginia Tech College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences presents the Giovanni-Steger Poetry Prize ceremony celebrating the power of poetry & creativity at The Lyric Theatre, Blacksburg, held in honor of the late Nikki Giovanni from 4-6PM. Student finalists from across the university will take center stage and a reception will follow the readings. The event is free and open to the public.

2. Wednesday Library Fun:
-- Wildflowers Walk in Wildwood Park:
Join the Radford Public Library, meeting in the community room, for a presentation of spring flowers starting at 10:30AM. Following the talk, head outside for a guided walk. All ages are welcome.
-- Junior Detectives Escape Room: Easter Bunny Rescue at the Pulaski County Library for elementary students from 4-5PM. Solve the escape room puzzles as a team before the hour is up. Pre-registration is required. Courtesy of Pulaski County Library System.
-- April Pokemon Club at the Meadowbrook Public Library at 4:30PM. Pokémon fans bring your Switch, DS or Pokémon cards and get ready to battle, trade, and make new friends. All ages welcome.

3. Wednesday Live Music Lineup:
-- "An Evening of Brass" featuring the Trumpet Ensemble, The Low Brass Ensemble, The Highlander Brass Quartet and The Highlander Brass Ensemble inside Performance Hall starting at 7:30PM. Free & open to the public. Courtesy of Radford University - College of Visual & Performing Arts.
-- April Monthly Blues Jam at Rising Silo Brewery from 6-9PM. The Blue Monday Band hosts the monthly event and will open the show and then they will guest performers to the stage to perform.
-- Classical & Spanish guitarist Renate Kehlenbeck performs at Blacksburg Wine Lab from 6-8PM. No cover.

4. Premiere of New Trivia Night:
JH Bards Spirit Co. hosts their first Team Trivia Night from 7-8:30PM with general trivia. The winning team will receive a prize. Moving forward Trivia Nights will occur every other Wednesday night.

5. Radford University Student Choreography Showcase:
Radford University Department of Dance hosts the annual showcase featuring original works choreographed and performed by their students over two days (Wednesday & Thursday) in an intimate setting inside the Artis Center Studio Theater starting at 7:30PM. Admission is free though seating is limited to 75 people. Tickets can be reserved in advance.

6. Super Mario Bros Movie Trivia:
McClains at First & Main hosts their Super Mario Brothers trivia for all ages starting at 7:30PM. It's free to play and prizes will be awarded to the winners.
