Big news announcement…
As of November 16 Fannie Mae is doing away with its desktop underwriting minimum credit score requirement of 620.

What this means?
• Fannie Mae’s DU system will no longer have a hard minimum credit score (formerly commonly 620) for new case-files as of mid-November 2025.
• Instead of a simple score cutoff, DU will evaluate applicants using its proprietary risk model that looks at many factors beyond the score.
• Borrowers with lower scores (500-590) now have more opportunity for conventional loan eligibility provided their overall profile is solid.
• Credit scores are still required (by lenders) and still part of the risk picture as this change is about flexibility, not elimination of credit standards.
