That means I’m going to verify who I’m dealing with.

That means I may ask for identification.

That means I’m going to ask for a pre-approval or proof of funds before scheduling certain private showings.

And no, telling me your occupation, income, title or how important you think you are does not replace any of those things.

Don’t have a pre-approval yet? No problem. I can help connect you with a lender.

Don’t want to provide one? That’s your choice too. If there’s an open house, come see it then.

But expecting a Realtor to blindly meet an unknown person from the internet at a private residence and unlock the door with zero verification because “I want to see it” is absolutely ridiculous.

Realtors have families waiting for them to come home.

Sellers deserve to know we aren’t handing out access to their homes to every random Facebook account that sends a message.

And in 2026, with scammers, fake identities and people pretending to be buyers becoming more common, I’m not lowering my safety standards because someone gets offended by them.
