Real estate can be so manic, especially in the current market. This story deserves to be told. My clients have been looking for a new place for a while, and need to sell their current home before purchasing their next one, which can be tough right now. We submitted an offer on a home (contingent on their current home going under contract) Tuesday morning, got it accepted Wednesday, and had plans to list my clients’ home by Saturday.

When a seller accepts a contingent offer like this, they’re still allowed to show the home for potential non-contingent offers until the buyers get their home under contract. Come Wednesday late afternoon, I got word that the seller was going to be getting multiple offers without a sale contingency. I immediately let my clients know and they hit the ground RUNNING. What was already a planned “all hands on deck” listing preparation night for them and several family members turned into a night of prep, getting the listing uploaded asap and allowing showings by 3 other Realtors who had interested buyers.

I was glued to my phone from 4pm-10pm last night, talking with everyone involved, and ended the night with an accepted offer on my clients’ home so that we could move forward on our offer without our initial contingency.

I can’t begin to describe the roller coaster of emotions that played out over the last two days, and am THRILLED that the seller chose to work with my buyers after they busted their butts to make a sale happen in a matter of hours.

SO, so thankful for the Realtors who acted insanely fast for their clients, the listing agent, and to my clients and their families for putting in the work. Happy stories don’t always exist in this market, but MAN is this a good one!!! ❤️

There are still approximately 15,700 people without power in McLean County due to yesterdays storm system. At the peak it was over 32,000 so just over half have been restored. Crews worked through the night and additional crews continue to arrive to assist both Ameren and Cornbelt on repairs. The extent of the outage, weather, and trees tangled in lines, make this a slow process. Some areas are still being assessed so at this point, there is no restoration time being given.

A portion of the areas without electricity may be single homes so it's important that if you are still without power and haven't reported it yet that you do so. Reports can be made through your providers portal or by calling Ameren at 800-755-5000 or Cornbelt at 309-662-5330.

Safety Reminders:
* Downed lines can be deadly, always assume downed lines are live
* Downed lines can energize the ground up to 35 feet away, even further in wet conditions
* Never drive over downed power lines or anything in contact with them
* Never try to move a downed power line
* If a vehicle contacts a power line or utility pole stay away and call 911
* Warn others not to approach the vehicle, downed lines, or anything in contact with them
