We’re proud to celebrate a major win for housing in our community. 👏
Thanks in part to the advocacy efforts of IURA's Government Affairs Committee, the Bloomington City Council approved the Hopewell project—helping pave the way for nearly 100 new affordable homes in the City of Bloomington.

A new chapter for Bloomington begins: Hopewell’s first homes are officially on their way. After unanimous support from both the Plan Commission and City Council, Mayor Thomson has signed off on the neighborhood’s first plans.

That means nearly 100 new homes are coming soon, designed for a wider range of residents and stages of life and expanding attainable homeownership opportunities in our city.

This progress reflects years of teamwork and vision from city staff, community members, and local leaders—all of whom we thank for helping make this vision a reality. Look for the first homes as early as 2027!

We have the chance to have housing at a starter home price point in the heart of Bloomington. This is a well thought out project, with a great deal of feedback from local industry professionals. It has also been very successful in other communities; South Bend Indiana is one of them. Please consider signing this petition to encourage the city council to allow this development to move forward.

The Van Buren Township Trustee’s office is organizing a community cleanup effort this Saturday, February 28th to assist residents impacted by the storm.

Volunteer Details:
📅 Saturday, February 28
🕘 Arrive at 9:30 AM (for street assignments)
🕙 Cleanup runs from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
📍 Meet at the Van Buren Township Community Center
352 S. Fieldstone Blvd., Bloomington
Volunteers will be assigned to help clear debris from affected neighborhoods. The Trustee’s office will provide water, tea, coffee, protein bars, and a light lunch after 2:30 PM.

Please bring:
• Work gloves
• Any equipment you are comfortable operating (chainsaws, shovels, rakes, etc.)
