Alright, this one's going to sting for some folks. The Pantagraph just dropped the numbers on which homes in BloNo are paying the highest property tax bills, and wow.
The top spot? A home on Worthington Court in the Hawthorne II subdivision that paid $67,840 in property taxes for 2023. Let that sink in — nearly $68k in taxes alone. That's more than many people's entire salary.
Right behind it is a house on Country Club Place in Bloomington at $58,214, followed by two more Worthington Court properties at $51,876 and $51,062. All of these are in east Bloomington, which tracks with what we see in the luxury market out there.

For context, the median home in McLean County pays around $3,000-4,000 annually in property taxes. So these top-tier properties are paying 15-20 times that amount.
Whether you're buying, selling, or just curious about our local market, understanding the full cost of homeownership — including these tax implications — is crucial.
