🏡 A contractor estimate is more than a number.
If you’ve ever received two estimates for the same home project and wondered why one is thousands of dollars higher, don’t automatically assume the more expensive contractor is overcharging—or that the cheaper contractor is giving you the better deal.
The first thing to ask is: Are you actually comparing the same project?
One estimate may include better materials, more preparation, permits, removal and disposal, cleanup, warranties, or additional work that another contractor left out.
There’s also the experience behind the work. Project management, communication, workmanship, and accountability all matter when someone is working on your home.
Before choosing the lowest number, take the time to understand what that number actually includes.
A $10,000 estimate and a $15,000 estimate aren’t necessarily two prices for the same thing. They may be two completely different scopes of work.
As a homeowner, you don’t need to be a contractor to make a smart decision.
You just need to know what questions to ask. 🏡
