CLOSED HERE AND THERE!! — but this one feels like so much more than a closing. 🤍🏡
Every time I have tried to write this post, I have cried- so it’s extremely delayed as I try to get my act together!
Bob and Jamie entrusted me with the sale of their home after we were connected through a very dear, longtime mutual friend. But to call this simply a business transaction would completely downplay what God did through this journey.
Sometimes people walk into your life and fit so perfectly into your tribe that you know only God could have arranged the crossing of your paths. Every one of my clients becomes incredibly special to me, but this was different.
It felt as though Bob and Jamie had been part of our church family—and part of the Sasyk family’s life—for the last decade.
Throughout the process, the entire Sasyk family, doodles included, traveled to Texas with them to search for their new home. We prayed together, laughed way too much together, cried together, toured neighborhoods together, searched for churches together and dreamed about what their next chapter might hold- including what hobbies and roles Bob should take on—Farmer? Woodworker? Boater? Builder? Endless possibilities!! Hahaha!!
In the end, the home the Lord intended for them was right there—perfectly waiting. And alongside it was the community they needed in place of the one here that had welcomed them, loved them and wrapped them in open arms.
The day they left, Sawyer curled up on the couch in tears because of the deep love and connection he had formed with our sweet friends. Mina still FaceTimes Mr. Lou Dog, frequently because apparently even state lines are not strong enough to break up that friendship. 🥹🐶
But the ache of their leaving was not ours alone.
Pastor Darryl even spoke about the connection Bob and Jamie had made within our church body and how difficult it was going to be to see them go. In such a short time, they had not simply attended our church—they had become woven into it.
They were prayed for, loved, welcomed and known.
Their absence would be felt in conversations, in the rows on Sunday mornings, in gatherings throughout the week and in the hearts of an entire community of people who had come to love them.
That is the kind of relationship this became.
Not clients.
Not simply friends.
Something much deeper that only Christ can create. 🤍
Jamie said it best:
“If we hadn’t needed to sell, we might never have had the chance to become such great friends.”
And I think that is the part that gets me every time.
Sometimes the very thing we wish we did not have to walk through becomes the doorway God uses to bring the right people into our lives.
Sometimes a house must be sold so a friendship can be found.
Sometimes a goodbye reveals just how deeply someone has become part of your life.
And sometimes God allows our hearts to break a little because loving people deeply is always worth the ache of missing them.
When I say Jesus is at the center of my business, I mean it. ✝️ Sometimes He uses my business to remind people of His love for them. In this case, He reminded an incredible couple that He had a plan for every detail of their move—and that no matter the ZIP code, He would place a community of people around them who love the Lord and would welcome them with open arms. But I think He was also reminding all of us that the body of Christ is not confined to one building, one town or one state.
The same God who surrounded Bob and Jamie with people who loved them here had already gone before them to prepare a home, a church and a community in Texas.
Love does not disappear just because someone moves away. It simply changes shape.
It looks like FaceTime calls with Lou, tearful goodbyes, long-distance prayers, planned visits and friendships that refuse to be measured in miles.
To Bob and Jamie, and to sweet Elaine, who helped them navigate the Texas market: continue chasing after godliness every single day. I am overwhelmingly grateful that the Lord widened my circle of friends by bringing each of you into my life. Thank you for trusting me, praying with me, putting up with my antics and laughing at my ridiculous jokes every step of the way. I know you didn’t know you were signing up for the comedy show that is my daily life, but I hope you enjoyed the front row seat! I cannot wait to visit once you turn off the exterior furnace they apparently call “Texas weather.” Just make sure those alligators are on a leash before I arrive! 😂🐊
Congratulations, Bob and Jamie. 🏡🔑
You may have moved several states away, but you are forever part of the Sasyk family—and forever part of a church family that will continue loving you, praying for you and missing you from afar.
And apparently, Lou is forever on Mina’s FaceTime schedule. 🤍
