June is and this past April we had a reminder that this disease strikes without warning. MG or Myqsthenia Gravis is a rare autoimmune disorder that can result in a droopy eye, double vision, muscle weakness, difficulty chewing, swallowing or in severe cases… Breathing. Lauren’s journey is somewhat well known, but MG has been a part of our journey together since the day we got married. 2026 marked her 13th ventilator in 15 years and this poem / photo sums up the countless days I would sit by her bedside. When a crisis occurs for her, a ventilator is the only option to save her life. What most people don’t think about is what it’s like to be on a ventilator for days on end while your body is trying to heal… And the recovery post extubation. If you are lucky enough to know Lauren, she is the toughest woman I know and my best friend. Enjoy every healthy day with your loved ones, and don’t underestimate just being there for people who are struggling. Love you lololetsgeaux and argenx for everything you have done for our family. To all of our friends who stood by our family over the years… Especially this past Spring, thank you. Takes a village and we are grateful for every one of you!
