A Message from Robert
Friday, August 28, 2026
Dear Members,
By now, you have received a message from Jason sharing that I have made the difficult decision to resign as CEO of Colleton River and accept another opportunity.
There is never a perfect way to write a message like this. Over the past three years, Colleton River has become much more than the place where I come to work each day. I have built friendships here, had the privilege of getting to know so many of you and your families, and worked alongside a team of people for whom I have enormous respect.
I am proud of what we have accomplished together. We have strengthened the Club financially, made significant investments in the member experience and our facilities, tackled some difficult issues, and continued to raise our expectations for what Colleton River can become. There is still plenty of work ahead, which is probably the way it should be. Great clubs are never really finished.
What I am most proud of, however, is the team we have built. There are talented people throughout this organization who care deeply about Colleton River and about the experience you and your families have here. I have asked a great deal of them over the past three years, and they have consistently answered the call. I have every confidence they will continue to do so.
I will be here for at least the next two months and longer if necessary to help Jason, the Board, and our leadership team through the transition. There is important work underway, and my commitment to the Club does not change simply because I have made a decision about what comes next for me. I intend to remain fully engaged for as long as I am here.
I am deeply grateful for the friendships, kindness, and support I have experienced at Colleton River. Leaving is bittersweet. I am excited about what lies ahead, while also knowing there are people and a community here that I will genuinely miss.
For now, there is still work to do, and I look forward to seeing many of you around the Club over the coming weeks.
Thank you for allowing me the privilege of serving as your CEO.
