Who remembers Builder Walks On Wednesdays?!

After today’s team meeting with Riverwood Homes, I couldn’t wait to step inside the Siena! I’ve missed bringing you along as a home takes shape, and this one has been so fun to watch.

“But what about your valuables, Mom?”

Yesterday’s wind was giving my listing signs a beating in Siena Hills. After closing the open houses, I pulled all of the signs and stored them. Then I saw the sky.

I called the girls as I drove towards home. They were calm and already watching the smoke. “It looks like it’s in Benton City, Mom.”

I called Colby next, and he headed home right away. Once we were all together, we watched the fire and told the girls to pack a bag with their favorite things. I emptied my real estate gear from the car to make room. The girls packed their things, along with Cholla’s food and even her toys. “They’re her precious, most important things, Mom.” All of which filled the car.

The fire appeared to ease, but then we realized it was on our side of the highway. I gathered our legal documents...and nothing more. When the girls asked about my valuables, I said I already had them with me. I just wanted us all together and safe.

We watched flames move over the ridge. Level 3 “Go Now” evacuation notices were issued in West Richland. A Cat headed up the hill to make a firebreak, and planes made repeated drops until the fire eased. A haystack continued to burn into the night under supervision.

The first photos show what I saw leaving Siena Hills and driving down Kennedy. The next are from home. The last photo is the ridge this morning, with the burn scar visible in daylight.

I’m grateful for the people who worked through the wind and smoke yesterday, and thinking of everyone in Benton City and West who had to make the same quick decisions about what to do…and what to take. ❤️

Well, that’s one way to spell commercial. 😅

My new sign has a typo, and it’ll be keeping me humble for at least another week. The good news? The commercial lots for sale in Boardman are worth a closer look, however you spell it.
