If you have been trying to buy a home you are aware of the booming Real Estate market. It is not for the faint of heart! If you want to jump in, you need to know a couple of things. First of all, there is still a shortage of homes for sale. Secondly, you will need either a preapproval letter or a proof of funds statement from your bank. Third, many of the homes for sale are selling above asking price so you need to understand escalation clauses, appraisals and inspection issues. I can help you understand all of these items and help guide you on your journey to home ownership. The current Real Estate market is something we have not seen before. There is a shortage of homes and extremely low interest rates. These two factors add up to a fever pitch of excitement when a new listing shows up on the market. If you are looking for a home, you definitely need to make your first stop at your bank for either a preapproval letter or a proof of funds statement. Offers without this important piece of paper will most likely be rejected. Homes are going under contract within a day or two of listing so there is no time to waste getting your paperwork in order.

The Spring Real Estate Market shows no sign of slowing down! Last time I blogged, I mentioned a few things to get your home ready for Spring. While driving around to clients homes another item came to mind and its one that you should consider whether you are selling or not.
If you have vinyl siding, this is a good time to schedule a company to power wash the house. Take a walk around your home and take a close look at the condition of your siding. This stained siding will be especially noticeable on the side of the house that faces north but it will be something that the whole house needs. If you don’t address this fungus, it will permanently stain the siding. If you have access to a power washer and want to try it yourself, be careful. The companies who do this for a living are insured and usually do a great job.

If you have been thinking of making a move from your current home to something larger, smaller or just different because the pandemic has made you think you need a change, then now is the time to start your search. If you are going to be selling, it’s time to take a good long look at your current residence through the eyes of a buyer. You love your home…but they don’t love it yet! Take a look at things you can do to make it appeal to others. Clutter is always an issue so look around and see what you can eliminate. The less cluttered, the better it shows.
