I just wanted to take a minute to catch people up with what’s going on at South 40. I get asked several times a week by folks if we are still open, or if we are closing. The answer to that is yes we are still open, and no we we are not closing. Did we cut some inventory of slow moving material and non profitable products we had in stock? Yes we did, but that’s what successful businesses have to do sometimes when they want to maximize profits. Does the property we operate on have for sale signs all over it and is it on the market? Yes it’s for sale, but I lease that property and have no stake in ownership, so I have zero control of what the owners do with the property. I have been through one ownership change there already, and didn’t have to move, so who knows if I’ll have to move if it sells this time. I’ve been working on backup plans in the event we are forced to move though. Did I start a new business and put a lot of my time and focus on this new business? Yes I did, and that’s the reason I’ve been sorda quiet with pushing South 40 lately. I’ve worked hard to establish and grow South 40 as the “GO TO” landscape supply and material business in the Marshall County area, and I don’t plan on stopping now. I’ve also worked hard to find the right person to help me with running the South 40 yard while I try to split my time with both businesses. And I think I have found the right person for the job. So to make a long story short, yes we are open for business, and we have no plans going anywhere unless we are forced to. And we’ll cross that bridge when it’s time.
