I'm paying attention to things like the quality of the craftsmanship, how materials come together, the functionality of the layout, signs of previous renovations, and whether improvements appear to have been thoughtfully executed.

A beautiful kitchen, impressive millwork, or high-end finishes can certainly add appeal. But finishes alone don't tell you the quality of a home.

For buyers, looking beyond the surface can help identify questions worth asking before making a decision.

For sellers, understanding which improvements truly add value can help determine where to focus before bringing a home to market.
