ALBANY, NY — In a stunning display of intellectual consistency, the same liberals who cheered the New York State Capitol’s $80 million renovation of a mere 77 crumbling steps are now clutching their pearls over President Trump privately funding a new White House ballroom with zero taxpayer dollars.
“It’s an absolute outrage,” fumed TDS News senior White House correspondent Jenny Talwertz, visibly vibrating with righteous fury while standing in front of the ongoing New York construction site. “Democrats responsibly investing in historic infrastructure at roughly one million dollars per stair? That’s just good governance. But Trump daring to pay for his own ballroom with patriot donors instead of raiding your 401(k)? That’s literally fascism with extra chandeliers.”
Sources close to Talwertz confirmed she had no problem with Albany Democrats blowing past every budget estimate for a decade while the stairs sat closed, but the second Trump’s donors wrote checks, she began experiencing “severe symptoms of Trump Derangement Syndrome, including spontaneous shrieking and demands for a 47th impeachment.”
At press time, Talwertz was reportedly organizing a protest demanding that the New York stairs be renamed the “Trump Stairs” so Democrats could finally oppose them on principle.
