Good Morning and Happy Monday,

Rates rose slightly higher last week as investors were still reacting to the data from the previous week. We’ve had similar events in the last year where rates jumped 0.2%+ after less favorable economic data was released. In April and August, rates jumped but returned to the downward trend after new data was released. We could continue on our downward trend if the employment and inflation data released in early November are in line with expectations!

Good morning and happy Monday!  Here is your Monday Mortgage Minute:

We have waited and waited and it seems to finally be here. After a jobs report that was way worst than expected rates started to fall in rapid fashion and continue to do so. We are seeing rates in the mid to low 6s with chances to buy into the 5s. There are rumors spreading of an emergency Fed rate cut. That would only help from a mortgage rate perspective. If you've been on the fence about rates now in the time to reach back out and motivate them!

If you need anything I am here to help. We are headed to month 2 of the second half of the year. I’d be happy to discuss strategy anytime to make it a great close to the year.

Good morning!

We are finally below 7%!! Mortgage interest rates hit their lowest point in 6 months Friday!

Thursday, the consumer price index showed that inflation is continuing to slow. We are not quite at the Fed’s target inflation numbers, but we are making progress. As a result, mortgage interest rates dropped almost a quarter percent. That is a significant movement for one week!

Although the national average is in the high 6s, we did have clients lock in interest rates in the 5s Friday. The market is getting better for buyers as they can take advantage of great deals on homes and the best interest rates we’ve seen in months!

Good morning!

Interest rates are opening up just a bit higher than last week. We continue to hover around 7% and will likely stay there until the consumer price index is released July 11th.

Friday, we received good news as the PCE came in lower than expected. Personal Consumption Expenditure (PCE) is an index that measures inflation and is the Federal Reserve’s preferred inflation tracker.

There were a few minor international events that caused the uptick this week, but those are not a cause for concern. The data is showing inflation is subsiding, so that puts the Fed in a position to cut rates sooner rather than later. Experts are still predicting one or more rate cut(s) in 2024, so we are still very optimistic that mortgage interest rates will decrease in the fall.
