Framing is one of the most important stages of a custom build, and it’s your best chance to catch things before the walls close in for good. 🛠️ Here’s what I always tell clients to check:
📍1. Confirm every paid option is actually there. If you upgraded windows, added a bump out, or paid for anything extra, this is a stage to verify it’s included.
📍2. Take photos and videos of everything behind the wall walls. You never know when you’ll need to know exactly where a waterline or wire runs — five years from now, you’ll be glad you have it.
📍3. Think ahead about blocking. If you know you want to mount a TV, install grab bars, or hang something heavy down the road, ask now. Good builders can add blocking in the wall to make it effortless later.
📍4. Compare the frame layout to your floor plan — and to any model or rep home you toured. If something looks different, ask before it’s covered up.
📍5. Consider a third-party inspection at this stage. It can catch things like mold in the crawlspace or cut floor joist — issues that are far easier and cheaper to fix now than after drywall.

This is why framing walk-through matters so much in a custom build — it’s the moment where a little attention now saves a lot of stress later. Any good builders should welcome these questions.
