This past Saturday I went on a really cool walking tour of Old Boise Historic District. I got to learn so much more about the colorful history of the city that I was born in where everything got put in a new and beautiful light. For instance, I didn't fully realize that Freak Alley gallery began one night on Moon's Kitchen backdoor. The owner caught the two boys who were painting graffiti there and instead of calling the cops, he asked them to keep going and it began gathering more artists, making it the open-air, free art gallery that it is today. Also, Boise ordinance requires that any new building that is built here MUST set aside 1% of the building costs towards employing a local artist to add to their aesthetics. I learned all of this and more on this tour and highly recommend you check it out! Tickets are only $12! https://www.preservationidaho.org/walking-tours.

Though I was born and raised in Idaho, I haven't always lived here. I've lived in Texas and Arkansas and thought I might set-up a life in either of those two states or continue to travel, not really settling down anywhere, but I kept coming back to Idaho. Idaho has always been and always will be my home. It's where my family is and these mountains just seem to run in my blood at this point. If you live here, you know what I mean. If you don't, maybe someday you will understand and appreciate it the way we do. Love my .
