Why does the drive to your vacation feel so long, but the ride home feel so short?
Your brain is working harder on the way there. Everything is new, so it's taking in every detail. On the way home, the road is familiar, so your brain tunes out and the miles fly by.
Life works the same way. As we get older, it can feel like time is rushing past us. But it's not the clock, it's the routine. When every day looks the same, our brains stop logging it.
So take a different road. Make new memories.
I'm always adding to my memory bank: taking the long way home, being a tourist in my own town, volunteering, doing things that scare me, chasing new goals.
Now I'd love to hear from you. What do you do to stay present, keep learning, and keep growing? Tell me in the comments. 👇
