There’s no better feeling in the world than handing the keys to someone you love and watching them step into a home they’ve worked so hard for.

One of my very best friends is the hardest-working woman I know. She’s a single mom of three who works three jobs, seven days a week, from morning until night. Even when she’s exhausted and in pain, she keeps showing up—for work, for her kids, and for the family she loves. Somehow, she still makes sure there’s a home-cooked meal on the table. Her strength and selflessness leave me in awe.

I am so incredibly proud of you. Your sacrifices haven’t gone unnoticed, and it’s beautiful to see your family rally around you and help make this home possible. You deserve a place to rest, make memories, and feel the love you give so freely to everyone around you.

PENDING!

This home is for one of my best friends, and I already know closing day will be emotional. There is a beautiful story behind how this all came together, a story about perseverance, friendship, and a whole team that worked incredibly hard to carry this one across the finish line. When it officially closes next week, I’ll finally be able to share it with you.

I truly love working with buyers. While they’re walking through a home, picturing their furniture and imagining the life they might build there, I’m usually playing the parent, checking the furnace, the air conditioner, the roof, the major appliances, and all the practical things that matter long after the excitement of the showing fades.

I want my clients to fall in love. I also want to make sure the home they fall in love with will take care of them.

After more than 20 years in real estate, I still feel incredibly lucky to be invited into these moments. Every client entrusts me with a piece of their life, but every once in a while, a transaction touches something deeper.

Today, I watered Jerry’s flowers for the last time.

My dear friend Jerry Ronald Schwartz recently passed away from cancer. Before he died, he asked me to sell his home when the time came. Being trusted with something so personal was an honor I will never forget, and this closing meant so much more to me than simply selling a house.

Instead of listing and staging Jerry’s home and having countless people walk through it, we were able to sell it privately to a couple from his neighborhood. They had been searching for a home for nearly a year but kept losing out to cash offers. Now they get to stay in the neighborhood they love, in a home I know they will appreciate and care for. It all came together in a way that felt right—and in a way I truly believe Jerry would have wanted.

Jerry and I were friends for 26 years, but he was much more like family to me. He was an appraiser and one of my greatest mentors. He taught me how to truly understand the value of a home, and so much of what I know and how I approach my work today is because of him.

Jerry was fun, fiery, wild, stubborn and completely unforgettable. He could make me laugh, make me crazy and keep me on my toes, sometimes all at once. We shared so many good times, and I loved him to pieces.

As I watered his flowers one last time, it hit me that this chapter was really ending. This wasn’t just a closing. It was the final thing Jerry trusted me to do for him, and I hope I made him proud.

I will miss you more than I can put into words, Jerry.
