May Connected Conversations: Primary Elections — Why Your Vote Matters

https://youtu.be/-TgauJq5MX4

The Idaho Primary on May 19th isn't a warmup — it's the election. With nearly 87% of the Idaho legislature Republican, the winner of the May primary is almost certainly the person heading to the statehouse in November to make decisions about your property, your clients, and your business.

Idaho REALTORS® President Michelle Bailey and Government Affairs Director Max Pond break down exactly what's at stake, how Idaho REALTORS® evaluates and endorses candidates, and what members can do right now to make their voices heard.

Max walks through the endorsement process — voting records, relationships, trustee committee review — and explains how Idaho REALTORS®' PAC deploys resources across state and local races, from legislative seats to county commissioners to city councils. Seventy percent of every PAC dollar goes right back to Idaho communities.

Idaho REALTORS®' statewide legislative endorsements are available now at idahorealtors.com. Tuesday May 19th is election day so make sure to check your registration, find your polling location, and visit voteidaho.gov to make your voting plan.

May Connected Conversations:

Reflecting with Representative Jordan Redman https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3EZ1FIVUCo

The Idaho Primary on May 19th is your chance to decide who fights for your values in the statehouse. The candidates on that ballot aren't abstractions — they're the people who will determine what Idahoans can do with their property and who can afford to buy a home.

Representative Jordan Redman of Kootenai County's District 3 is one of those people. A lifelong Idahoan and self-described property rights purist, Representative Redman has spent his time in the legislature making the case that what you do with your property is your business — and backing it up with legislation. This session alone he helped push through the short-term rental protections, ADU by-right provisions, and starter home subdivision reforms that Idaho REALTORS® fought hard to get signed into law.

In this conversation, Representative Redman talks about what drove him to run, why housing attainability has become one of the defining issues of our time in Idaho, and why he believes property rights are worth fighting for in every single session.

Connected Conversations: May Primary Election - Assessing the Race with Allyson Knapp

The Idaho Primary on May 19th is not a warmup, election day is next week and we know that REALTOR® members and homeowners need to know who they're voting for.

Alyson Knapp is a REALTOR® and former MLS president running for Kootenai County Assessor — and she's pushing hard to make sure voters in her community understand what's at stake. The assessor's office directly affects property values and what homeowners pay in taxes, making it one of the most consequential local races on the ballot for REALTOR® families. Local elections shape daily life more than most people realize. Idaho REALTORS encourages our members to get to know the candidates, do their research, and show up on election day.

Early voting for the May Primary is underway and absentee ballots are available now. Check your registration, find your polling location, and get out on election day. Remember to visit voteidaho.gov to make your voting plan.

May Connected Conversations: Talking with Senator Todd Lakey

The Idaho Primary on May 19th is the election that matters. In a state where nearly 87% of the legislature is Republican, the primary winner is likely headed straight to the statehouse — which means now is the time to get registered, show up, and make your voice heard.

Senator Todd Lakey of District 23 has served seven terms in the Idaho Senate, chairing the Judiciary and Rules Committee and serving as a senior member on the Commerce Committee. He knows firsthand what it means when constituents show up — and what it costs when they don't. In this conversation, he talks about why property rights need defending every single session and why the most effective thing a REALTOR® member can do is get to know their legislators before they need them.

The May 19th primary is your opportunity to do exactly that. Check your registration, find your polling location, and learn about early voting and absentee ballots at voteidaho.gov.
