My parents (Boomer/Gen X) have an idealistic view of taking kids to the park.

I probably would too if my kids were under 8 in early-2000s Seattle.

But a lot of my generation (Millenial) on the West Coast avoid public parks altogether.

Idaho took me back to how parks are supposed to feel.

Relaxed parents and kids running free until dark is still possible here.

I think we’ll stay.

🥾We bet you didn’t know hikes like this one exist just 17 miles from Boise  

Cervidae Peak is a nearly 2,000-foot climb in only about 2.3 miles!

So we will be in pain for the next few days…

This is 1 of 4 “Grand Slam Peaks” that hardcore hikers try to complete: Cervidae Peak, Mount Heinen, Kepros Mountain, and Shaw Mountain

Here are a few fun facts about this one:
⛰️ After a 2,000-foot climb, you will be at the 4,987-foot summit. Make sure you snap a picture with the sign at the top!
⛰️ The name “Cervidae” comes from the deer family, which is fitting for the elk and mule deer that move in this area
⛰️ The trail is famous for false summits… every new turn makes you think you’re close!
⛰️ From the peak, you can see peaks and landmarks like Shafer Butte, Pilot Peak, Thorn Creek Butte, and Mount Heinen
⛰️ There are no switchbacks along the route, so come prepared for a real climb!
