Did you know that certain July home repairs might be tax-deductible? Whether you’re a homeowner or a landlord, these can add up—if you know what qualifies.👇
✔ Repairs vs. Improvements
Repairs bring your home back to working condition (think: patching a roof, fixing a faucet, repainting a wall).
Improvements, on the other hand, add value or extend the life of your home—these are not deductible all at once.
✔ Examples of Deductible Repairs:
🔧 Fixing leaky pipes
🔧 Servicing your A/C
🔧 Replacing broken door locks
🔧 Patching drywall or repainting
✔ Safe-Harbor Tip:
If each repair costs less than $2,500—or your total repairs are under $10,000 (or 2% of the property’s value)—you may be able to write them off in full for this tax year.
✔ Track and Save Everything:
Keep itemized receipts
Note the dates repairs were completed
Snap a quick before-and-after photo for good recordkeeping
🧾 The more organized you are now; the easier next tax season will be!
