An unpopular opinion from a Stockton Lake real estate agent. 🤫

I'd rather lose a deal than push someone into a home that isn't right for them.

I know that's not what people expect to hear. There's this assumption that agents are always nudging toward buying because that's how we get paid. And honestly, some do. But I've watched people close on houses they weren't ready for because they felt like they were supposed to, and it doesn't end well.

What I actually do is give you the real picture — the numbers, the timing, the honest read on whether this makes sense for where you are right now. Sometimes that leads to an offer. Sometimes it leads to "let's wait."

Either way, you leave the conversation knowing where you stand.

Today, this little A-frame closed, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t feeling a little sentimental.

A few years ago, I had the privilege of listing it for the previous owner. I still remember sitting on the back porch listening to him tell stories from a his incredible 93 years of life.

Then, I helped the next owners purchase it. And now, I’ve had the honor of helping them pass it along to its next chapter.

One of the things I love most about real estate is that sometimes you get to be part of a property’s story for more than a single transaction. You get to know the people, hear the stories, and understand what made a place feel like home to them.

Today, I handed over the keys feeling grateful for the trust of the sellers, excited for the buyers, and a little nostalgic for this quirky little cabin that has crossed my path more than once.

Here’s to preserving the stories, honoring the memories, and making room for new ones.

A little sunburnt. A little overcommitted. A little emotional about sunsets and small-town lake life. 😅

I’ve got a handful of hills I’m willing to die on, and most of them come from watching people make the same expensive mistakes over and over again.

One of them is this: good advice is free, but ignoring it can get pricey fast. Another is that real estate has a funny way of exposing whether we’re being strategic or just emotionally attached to a number. And somewhere near the top of my list is the belief that presentation, pricing, and actual market sense still matter a whole lot more than wishful thinking.

Stockton Lake buyers are smart. They notice the details, they know value when they see it, and they usually don’t need a speech about why a home is worth more than the market says it is. That part tends to sort itself out.

If you’re thinking about selling and want someone who will tell you the truth without making it weird, I’m your girl.
