It’s a “Snow Emergency” in Boston! Here are some local tips for getting through the storm:

1. Did you know participating parking garages offer discounted rates during snow emergencies? Many garages even offer free parking! Just be sure to keep an eye on when the ban lifts. Cars must be removed within 2 hours of the snow emergency to avoid being charged regular prices.
2. After you put in all that effort to dig out a parking space for yourself, you are allowed to mark and save that spot for up to 48 Hours after the parking ban is lifted! I’ve seen everything from trash cans to baby strollers be used. South End residents be warned – you are the only neighborhood in the city where these are not allowed!
3. Homeowners take note: you are responsible for clearing snow from sidewalks abutting your building! Don’t just push it into the street, or you may be fined.
